Create and Update a Users Manual

In order for you and your users to know how to use your database, you need to create and manage a Users Manual, often called a Data Standards Manual. Within this manual, you'll track things like naming conventions, spelling rules, field rules, and other guidelines.

Get started by listing all the separate departments in your organization. Have each department summarize what they do related to the database, making sure to include any specific rules or proceedures they follow. Next, flesh out any weak spots and combine it into one manual.

Finally, make it a policy to evaluate that manual at least once a year so that it's kept up to date.
