Keep Important Files on Network Drives

You sit down to log onto your computer and nothing happens when you hit the power button... After hours of consultation with IT, you get the diagnosis that your hard drive is kaput. What does this mean to you?

If you're storing your files on your local hard (C:) drive, then this means a lot. Unless you've been doing backups of your local drive, your files are gone! It only takes one crash to realize that you should store all your documents on a network drive.

Saving documents on a network drive not only allows you to take advantage of the nightly backups being performed on your network but also provides more security because the network is much less likely to suffer a catastrophic crash than your PC.
