Name Documents Logically
If you were hit by a bus and someone needed to figure out your computer filing system, would they be able to do it easily? If not, you need to rethink the way you name and store documents.
If a document is an agenda, call it that, and add the date of the meeting if possible. (Speaking of dates, start the filename with the year first, such as 2002.04.02, so that files sort by year, not by month or day.)
Try to look at your files from the perspective of an outsider. What would you want to know about the contents of the file? Also, do not hesitate to use folders, named logically, to organize your documents. The more description you can add to a file name, the better.
